Gigapower speeds are as advertised

Before we go any further, we need to be sure everybody understands a few things about the internet.

1. Regardless the speed of your internet connection, your experience on the internet is also determined by the online services you are using.  If they have slow servers, high traffic, or throttle connections, you will experience lag or latency.

2. If you are using wireless, of any sort, you will not get the speeds that your ISP advertises (usually).  Unless you have high end wireless, and you are experienced in configuring wireless networks, expect to get less than you pay for. (yes, I'm sure some fellow geeks will argue with me.  I'm talking about the average home user here)

3. To do a proper speed test of your ISP, you MUST plug in directly to your provider's gateway.

With all of that said, here is a recent speed test USING WIRELESS, at our home with our Gigapower from ATT.

This is using my Linksys WRT1900AC wireless router, as an access point only.  I have disabled the wireless on our Pace 5268AC gateway, and am using our own router.  However, due to the fact that configuring the ATT gear to simply "pass through" the internet connection is complicated (more on that later), I am only using the Linksys as an AP at this time.

I'll make a drawing of our current home network soon for reference.

This is the premier (and only) blog that is dedicated to ATT's Uverse Gigabit fiber internet services.  Our home has had this service including the U200 video service for about 1 month.  I will continue to post our experiences, reviews, and tips as I can.
